Context Unlocked: “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii”

In a world where international crises unfold quickly and headlines often move faster than our understanding, people of faith are called to seek truth with care, humility, and courage. Join SojoAction on July 16 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT for the final session of our mini-series, Context Unlocked: Aligning Foreign Affairs with Current Events, an educational conversation designed to help fill in the historical knowledge gaps behind today’s most pressing issues.

This special session will use Bad Bunny’s song “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii” to explore the connected histories of Hawaiʻi and Puerto Rico. Together, we’ll look at how colonization, land loss, displacement, tourism, political power, and cultural survival have shaped both places and continue to influence the present.

Led by Trinity Williams, Sojourners’ Policy and Action Assistant, this session will combine music and history to help us better understand what these communities have experienced and why those histories still matter.
