Once again President Trump has launched air strikes on Iran in an act of war.  Just last year on June 21st 2025 the United States launched strikes against Iran it claimed “destroyed or severely degraded” their nuclear capabilities. Now we’re once again launching strikes under the same stated reasoning. These repeated military actions demonstrate the need for Congress to step in and do its constitutional duty to assert its war powers and rein in or stop these deadly operations.

As Christians we believe that “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matt. 5:9). In this moment we demand that our representatives in both the House and Senate act to create peace in accordance with our beliefs. Since President Trump ended the successfully negotiated Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) we have seen him launch multiple strikes against Iran without any measurable progress towards peace. Congress must once again demand a diplomatic approach to preventing the growth of nuclear arms.

Yet another strike against Iran threatens to set off a ruinous regional conflict which could see the lives of countless people made worse or lost. As Christians we know that each and every life is precious and every step must be taken to avoid bloodshed.  Instead of recklessly pursuing a policy of escalation we demand an end to violence and vigorous oversight from Congress in pursuit of peace.
