Join Responders for Racial Equity

The Responders for Racial Equity Cohort is a trauma-informed formation and leadership experience for Black, Indigenous, and other Christian faith leaders of color navigating a time of national disruption, polarization, and institutional change.

Participants will explore the difference between Christian nationalism or ethno-nationalism and an authentic expression of Christian faith while developing spiritual practices and leadership tools to care for themselves, their congregations, and their communities.

Cohort Experience

  • In-person convening: August 12–13, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska
  • Virtual cohort: A six-week small-group experience following the convening
  • Online community: Sessions, resources, and communication will be hosted through Sojourners’ Faith & Practice Forum
     

The cohort will include spiritual formation, collective healing, story work, personal reflection, and leadership development. Attendance is free; accommodations and meals are provided. Participants are responsible for their own travel.

Applications are open to ordained and emerging clergy, lay faith leaders, chaplains, seminarians, community organizers, and leaders of Christian faith-based organizations. While grounded in the Episcopal tradition, the cohort welcomes leaders across Christian denominations, with preference given to Episcopalian applicants.
