I hope faith leaders know how to layer: As temperatures dip below zero in Minneapolis, the city’s pastors have invited clergy from around the country to gather—and get a preview of what faith communities may soon face in their own backyards as ICE tactics tested in Minnesota begin to expand elsewhere.

Subzero temperatures aside, what’s happening in Minneapolis should chill us all. Consider that World Relief and other faith-based refugee groups are now warning legally resettled refugees “not to leave their homes for any reason” in what they’re calling “a five-alarm fire.”

Facing all this will take courage, writes Sojourners’ Tyler Huckabee. But too often we mistake bravery for the “brash white guy who doesn’t listen to the experts” bravado that Trump models. And that’s not quite what God calls us to.

Elsewhere, we’re covering films coming to the big screen and wondering what the heck it means to “behold the glory of God” in decidedly inglorious times.

Oh, and the Midwesterner in me can’t resist: Long underwear isn’t sexy, but if you’re out in the cold this weekend, it’s my best tip for resisting icy (ICE-y?) weather. A thermos of hot chocolate to share wouldn’t hurt, either.
