Dear Ed,

Faith in action is love in action.

And love cannot sit quietly by while people are harmed, families are targeted, communities are divided, and democracy is dismantled piece by piece.

As people of faith, we are living in a moment when Christianity is being used to bless fear, exclusion, and control. Christian nationalism has tried to wrap itself in the language of faith, but it is deeply out of step with the way of Jesus — a way rooted in love of neighbor, protection of the vulnerable, truth-telling, and costly solidarity.

This is an opportunity for us to show, with our lives and our leadership, that another way is possible.

That is why SojoAction is inviting applications for two upcoming cohort opportunities. Each cohort is different. Both are rooted in formation, relationship, and faithful action.

First Responders for Racial Equity

This cohort is for Black, Indigenous, and other Christian faith leaders of color who are seeking a trauma-informed space for formation, healing, leadership development, and community.

Participants will gather in person in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 12–13, then continue through a six-week virtual small-group experience.

This space is designed for clergy, chaplains, seminarians, lay leaders, organizers, and leaders of Christian faith-based organizations.

Leadership Amplified: The Moral Immigration Cohort

This cohort is for organizers, faith leaders, and community leaders who feel called to stand with immigrant communities in this moment. Participants will learn with Christian Latino leaders working on the front lines, build relationships across communities, and develop shared strategies for protecting people and challenging harmful narratives.

The cohort includes an in-person gathering in Washington, D.C., on August 26–27, followed by three virtual sessions through October.

You may express interest for yourself, nominate another organizer, or do both.

You may see yourself in one of these opportunities. You may see yourself in both. You may also know someone whose leadership should be invited into one of these spaces.
